Annual Report, 2011

Sophia Way Annual Report 2011As we at The Sophia Way reflect on our many accomplishments of 2011 we are so thankful for all the assistance we have received in helping us achieve our goals of providing safe shelter, warm meals, case management and life skills to homeless women. Our accomplishments would not be possible without the many volunteers and donors who have made this work possible.

Walking with women on their journey from homelessness to independent life fills each of us with a gratifying sense of purpose and satisfaction that all of us are making a difference in our community. We are proud that we weathered the great recession but know we could not have done so without your support.

We are filled with continued prospects of hope that 2012 promises for our clients. Thank you on behalf of everyone at The Sophia Way and on behalf of our clients, the women we are proud to serve.

Welcome to The Sophia Way

The Sophia Way, located in downtown Bellevue, Washington, is the only staffed shelter for homeless single women in East King County. We offer the tools, guidance, and housing that homeless women need to make sustainable changes in their lives. Created by faith groups throughout the Eastside, supported by the community and local municipalities, we are serving those women who were falling through the cracks of the social services programs.

We believe in the necessity of shelter and safe living conditions for all persons. Our goal is to address this fundamental need of citizens of our community and improve the quality of life of adult homeless women. We believe in the equality of all, cherishing diversity, and treating each person we meet—client, volunteer, donor, staff—with the same respect, dignity, and care.

We are committed to providing every woman with the opportunity to live independently and move into permanent housing. The Sophia Way is partnering with the community to achieve the shared goal of ending homelessness as part of King County's ten year plan.
